CLINTON,
S.C. —
Presbyterian College baseball coach Elton Pollock has
announced that William Bolchoz, Kyle Craven,
and Josué Scott
will transfer to PC this fall and play for the Blue Hose in
2006.
Bolchoz,
a 5-11, 190-pound catcher, will transfer from The Citadel
where he spent the last two seasons. He redshirted in 2004 and
did not see game action this past season. Bolchoz is a 2003
graduate of Bishop England High School where he played for
head coach Mike Darnell. In high school he helped
lead Bishop England to the state championship in 1998 and was
a six-year varsity baseball letter winner. He earned 2A Region
6 all-conference honors in 2000, 2002, 2003, and was named to
the o2003 North-South, All-State and All-Lowcountry teams.
Bolchoz is the younger brother of former Blue Hose football
standout, Michael Bolchoz who played from 1984-87 and is a
member of PC’s All-Decade team.
“William
Bolchoz is a great catch and throw guy and has gap power at
the plate,” said
Pollock. “We look for him to make
an impact at the catcher position as well as provide
some much needed gap pop.”
Craven,
a 5-9, 175-pound outfielder, will transfer from Mercer
University. Craven is a 2003 graduate of Savannah Christian
where he played for head coach Carl Carter. As a senior, he
hit .455 at the plate with a .750 slugging percentage while
also lettering in basketball and soccer. In 2004, Craven was a
member of the Armstrong Atlantic State University baseball
program where he played in 27 games with 12 starts while
hitting .197 at the plate to go along with seven runs scored,
and three doubles.
“Kyle
Craven brings a wealth of much needed college game experience
to our young ball club. He has very good speed and has power
to all fields. Kyle is a very versatile athlete, with the
ability to play both the outfield and the infield.”
Scott,
a 5-11, 170-pound shortstop, will transfer from the University
of West Georgia where he spent the past two seasons and saw
limited action. He graduated from Hardaway High School in
Chicago, Illinois where he played for Tracey Powell. As a
senior at Hardaway, Scott hit .451 at the plate with 35 RBI
and 15 stolen bases en route to All-City honors.
“Josué
Scott will be asked to come in and fill a big void in our
middle infield at the shortstop position. Josué has great
hands and is as smooth as anyone in the middle infield. He
also shows good pop at the plate.”
