BELTON SIGNS WITH BLUE HOSE BASEBALL

CLINTON, S.C. — Clayton Belton has signed national letters of intent to play baseball at Presbyterian College announced today by head coach Doug Kovash.

Belton, a 6-1, 165-pound outfielder from Ridgeway, S.C. currently plays for Ridge View High School and head coach Kirk Burnett. He is a three-time all-region selection and was named “Offensive MVP” of his team as a sophomore and junior. In addition, Belton is a career .400 hitter in high school and has helped lead his team to a region championship and a berth in the state playoffs. During the summer he plays for the Post 182 and head coach Phil Newsome.

“Clay Belton will be an impact player for PC Baseball,” said Kovash. “He has good speed, plays a good center field, and hits the ball with some power to the opposite gap. We are extremely excited to sign an athlete of Clay Belton’s caliber and look forward to seeing him develop as a baseball player over the next four years.”

Belton joins Casey Carlton of Lexington, S.C., Chris Cornelison of Roswell, Ga., Eric Tatum of Buford, Ga., Jim Wagers of Blackstock, S.C., Tyson Baxter of Homer, Ga, and Rob McEwen of Batesburg, S.C. who  already signed as members of the Blue Hose signing class of 2004.
