COCKERHAM SIGNS WITH BLUE HOSE BASEBALL

CLINTON, S.C. — Andrew Cockerham has signed to play baseball at Presbyterian College announced today by head coach Doug Kovash. He becomes the 13th member of the 2004 recruiting class for the Blue Hose.

Cockerham, a 6-1, 172-pound infielder/pitcher from Millers Creek, N.C. played for West Wilkes High School and head coach Daniel Ward. This past season, he hit .333 at the plate while compiling a 7-3 record on the mound en route to all-county and all-conference honors. He also lettered in football and basketball where he earned all-conference honors in both sports and all-county player of the year honors in basketball.

“Andrew is a versatile, multi-position athlete who will see time on the left side of the infield and will pitch in relief as well,” said Kovash. “Andrew’s potential and upside is great and we anticipate a bright future as a Blue Hose. He has an athletic frame and was a multi-sport high school athlete that will only get better with time.”

Cockerham joins Tyson Baxter of Homer, Ga., Clayton Belton of Ridgeway, S.C., Justin Brazell of Lexington, S.C., Casey Carlton of Lexington, S.C., Chris Cornelison of Roswell, Ga., Benjamin Dollar of Gaffney, S.C., Steven Henry of Buford, Ga., Rob McEwen of Batesburg, S.C., John Robinson of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Preston Simpson of Lancaster, S.C., Eric Tatum of Buford, Ga., and Jim Wagers of Blackstock, S.C. who have already signed as members of the Blue Hose signing class of 2004.
