THE PATRIOTS SCORE SEVEN RUNS IN THE LAST TWO INNINGS TO DEFEAT BLUE HOSE 10-3

CLINTON, S.C. – Francis Marion University scored seven runs in the last two innings to defeat Presbyterian College 10-3 at the Presbyterian Baseball Complex today. First baseman Luke Ogletree (Villa Rica, GA) led the patriots with two hits and three RBI's on the day.

The Blue Hose fall to (1-4) on the season while the Patriots improve to (4-1) on the year.

The patriots opened the game by scoring two runs in the bottom of the second on a single by Catcher Kenneth Yaeger (Bowling Green, KY). Both Chris Newman (Columbia, SC) and Nick Stewart (Greenville, SC) scored on the hit. However, the Blue Hose would soon tie the game at two a piece on an error by Ogletree. The error allowed both Philip Hauserman (Decatur, GA) and Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC) to score on the grounder by designated hitter Lance Howard (Simpsonville, SC).

In the top of the fifth, Francis Marion broke the tie with a sac fly by Ogletree scoring outfielder Quentin Davis (Darlington, SC). Presbyterian would once again tie the game back up with a RBI single by first baseman Jake Lunnen (Sylva, NC). Lunnen drove in Howard who had been hit by a pitch and then reached second on a balk by the pitcher.

The Patriots broke the game open with a homer by Ogletree in the top of the eight and scoring six runs in the top of the ninth to give them the 10-3 victory.

Freshman pitcher Max Fischer (Cumming, GA) picked up his first loss of the season for the Blue Hose and senior lefthander Phil Padgett picked up his second win of the season for the Patriots.
