PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE SWEEPS HAWAI‘I PACIFIC 9-8 & 7-4

HONOLULU, HI -- The Hawai‘i Pacific University baseball team dropped an evening doubleheader to Presbyterian College, 8-9 and 4-7, at the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawai‘i this evening.

In the first contest, HPU’s Kyle Stanley went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Grandon Costa and Alika Kuraoka each recorded two hits and went 2-for-3. Costa had two RBIs and scored a run, and Kuraoka had a double and scored two runs.

HPU scored six runs in the first three innings, but went scoreless in the fourth and fifth, where Presbyterian scored three runs. PC scored six runs in the sixth inning sparked by center fielder Kevin White’s (Spartanburg, SC) base clearing triple that completed the rare cycle*. White singled in his first at bat, followed by a solo home run, then a double, and the triple that gave PC the 9-6 lead. HPU added two more runs, but fell short and stranded three runners in the bottom of the seventh. Dave Zamarano picked up his fifth loss of the season.

Leading PC at the plate was White (4-4) with five RBI's and junior Lance Howard (Simpsonville, SC) who went 2-3 with two runs scored.
