GEORGIA DEFEATS PRESBYTERIAN 13-4 CLINTON, S.C.----North Georgia College & State University used a five run fifth and a four run eighth to defeat Presbyterian College 13-4 in non-conference baseball action. The Saints improve to 49-16 overall while the Blue Hose drops to 25-30 on the year. The Blue Hose took the early lead in the second inning with Robbie Parrish (Myrtle Beach, SC) hitting a RBI single to score Matt Bodie (Aiken, SC). However, the Saints tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second with Richie Daigle (Alpharetta, GA) nailing a homerun. North Georgia scored three more runs in the third and fourth innings to go ahead 4-1. In the top of the fifth, PC's senior Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC) singled to score Parrish to close the Saints lead to 4-2. The Saints would gain some more insurance runs in the bottom of fifth by scoring five runs on three hits and one error. The inning was highlighted two doubles by Kyle Potts (Jefferson, GA) and Justin Rickett (Cumming, GA). North Georgia struck again in the eighth inning scoring four runs on three hits. Potts capped the inning off with an two run RBI scoring single. PC rallied for two runs in the ninth but could overcome the deficit as North Georgia held on to win 13-4. The Saints Justin Stowe (Marietta, GA) picked up the victory while PC's Charles Assey (Columbia, SC) received the loss. |
