FORMER BLUE HOSE STANDOUTS RICHARD BARKLEY & KEVIN WHITE CONTINUE STELLAR SEASON WITH RICHMOND ROOSTERS
Barkley named to Frontier League All-Star Game

CLINTON, S.C. — Former Presbyterian College baseball players Richard Barkley and Kevin White are enjoying a stellar season with the Richmond Roosters professional baseball team of the Independent Frontier League.

Barkley, a 2003 graduate of the Blue Hose, is in his second season with the Roosters and currently has a 4-3 record on the mound with an ERA of 1.87 to go along with 62 strikeouts. He currently leads the team and ranks third in the Frontier League in ERA and is sixth in the league in strikeouts. Barkley will be one of four Roosters that were named to the 12th Annual Frontier League All-Star Game to be played on Wednesday, July 14 at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O’Fallon, Missouri. 

White, a 2004 graduate of the Blue Hose, signed with the Roosters back on June 17. He has played in 26 games and currently has a .303 batting average with 20 runs scored, three homeruns, and 13 RBI. White in only 26 games is tied for second in the Frontier League with four triples.

Barkley, a native of Sumter, S.C. (Lakewood HS), finished his four-year career as one of the best pitchers in modern Blue Hose baseball history. As a senior in 2003, the preseason ABCA All-American and All-SAC selection led the PC staff with a 10-3 record, 2.41 ERA, 99 strikeouts, 108.1 innings pitched, eight complete games, and two shutouts.  He also set the single season mark for most wins, most strikeouts, and tied the record for most innings pitched in a season en route to SAC Tournament MVP, first team All-SAC, and first team ABCA All-Region honors.  Barkley finished his career tied for third in most wins (23), second in complete games (15), second in innings pitched (302.1), tied for first in shutouts (5), and first in strikeouts (259) and ERA (3.29).

White, a native of Spartanburg, S.C. (Spartanburg HS), finished his four-year career as arguably most decorated player in Blue Hose history. As a senior, he led PC in at-bats (193), hits (78), runs (58), doubles (17), triples (6), homeruns (11), RBI (53), and total bases (140) while hitting .404 at the plate. On the mound, he led the team with seven victories. White earned several other honors as a senior including 2004 South Atlantic Conference Co-Player of the Year, 1st Team All-SAC (outfielder), 2nd Team All-SAC (pitcher), first team ABCA All-Region honors and was named a second team ABCA All-American. For his career, White is the program’s first two-time ABCA All-American (2002 & 2004) selection and three-time ABCA All-Region selection.

He ranks first in Blue Hose program career history in batting average (.384), hits (321), runs scored (212), doubles (60), triples (13), homeruns (47), RBI (216), total bases (548), and slugging percentage (.656). White also ranks among the nation's best in NCAA Division II career statistics. He ranks 2nd in total bases (548), 5th in career hits (321), and tied for 15th in both runs scored (212) and RBI (216).
