preseason ranked teams highlight Presbyterian Colleges
2004 regular season baseball schedule announced today by
11th-year
Blue Hose head coach Doug
Kovash. Presbyterian College returns 18 letterwinners, one starter and a deep pitching staff from the 2003 Blue Hose baseball squad. The Blue Hose are coming off an 27-28 season in 2003 where they won the 2003 Food Lion/SAC Tournament Title and advanced to the 2003 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament. Presbyterian, who finished second (12-8) for the South Atlantic Conference regular season title last spring, are picked 5th in this season's pre-season coaches poll. Presbyterian opens the season with a trip to Jacksonville, Fla. to
face the #3 ranked University of North Florida on Jan. 31 and
Feb. 1. The following weekend the Blue Hose return home for a three-game home series against #4
ranked Kennesaw State University. On Feb. 12, PC hosts #15 ranked Francis Marion University before
they head to Laurinburg, N.C. on Feb. 14-15 to play St. Andrews College in a
three-game series that weekend.
In March,
the Blue Hose
return home for an seven-game home stand against Erskine
College (3/2), a three-game series versus Tusculum College
(3/6-7), followed by single games against UNC-Pembroke (3/9), Belmont Abbey College (3/10),
and Fairmont State University (3/11). April
opens with a home three-game series against Mars Hill College
on April 3-4. On April
21-25, the Blue Hose head to Rock Hill, S.C. for the Food
Lion/South
Atlantic Conference Tournament. I
am very excited about our upcoming season, Kovash said.
We have put together a very demanding schedule early
to get us prepared for conference play. Led by Kovash, who owns a 295-254-2 school record in ten seasons with Presbyterian, Presbyterian will welcome back All-American outfielder Kevin White (Spartanburg, S.C.) for his final season as a Blue Hose. Along with White, PC brings back a deep pitching staff with seniors Travis Hill (Rock Hill, S.C.), and Charles Assey (Columbia, S.C.) leading the staff. |
