BLUE HOSE BASEBALL TO OPEN THE 2004 SEASON THIS WEEKEND AT #3 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH FLORIDA

CLINTON, S.C. — The Presbyterian College baseball team will open the 2004 spring season this weekend, January 31-February 1, in Jacksonville, Fla. as they play the # 3 ranked Ospreys of the University of North Florida.

The Blue Hose open play on Saturday, January 31 against the Ospreys at 3 pm and then on Sunday at 1 pm. Last year, Presbyterian lost to the Ospreys 8-6 at the UNF/Peach Belt Challenge.

Presbyterian College is coming off an 27-28 season in 2003 where they won the 2003 Food Lion/SAC Tournament Title and advanced to the 2003 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament. The Blue Hose, who finished second last spring in the SAC regular season (12-8), are pre-season picked 5th in the league's coaches poll.

The #3 ranked Ospreys are pre-season picked by the Peach Belt Conference coaches to finish second in the PBC in the upcoming 2004 season. UNF received a total of 90 points and four first place votes to fall just behind rival Kennesaw State University.

The Ospreys finished the 2003 season with 39-18 record and a co-championship in the PBC with Armstrong Atlantic, which was picked to finish third this year. UNF closed out the NCAA Division II regional tournament with a loss to KSU that sent the Owls to the World Series.
