DOLLAR & ROBINSON SIGN WITH BLUE HOSE BASEBALL

CLINTON, S.C. — Benjamin Dollar and John (Russell) Robinson have signed national letters of intent to play baseball at Presbyterian College announced today by head coach Doug Kovash.

Dollar, a 6-4, 185-pound pitcher/outfielder from Gaffney, S.C. currently plays for Gaffney High School and head coach Tom Owens. He is a three-year letterwinner who has helped lead his team to the region finals this season. In addition, he is hitting .381 at the plate with three homeruns while compiling a 4-5 mark on the mound with a 2.21 ERA. During the summer he plays for the Post 109 Gaffney and head coach Jeff Osment. His legion team posted an 18-10 overall record and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs.

“Dollar is an outstanding right-handed pitcher with an above average fastball and 12/6 breaking ball,” said Kovash. “He is 6'4", thin, with a great frame to build on. His future as a college baseball player at Presbyterian College looks promising. We anticipate great things from Ben right away.,”

Robinson, a 6-0, 170-pound outfielder from Mt. Pleasant, S.C. currently plays for Wando High School and head coach Percy Knight. This season, Robinson has helped lead his team to a 25-4 overall record, the district championship, and a berth in the state playoffs. He is currently hitting .385 at the plate with four homeruns, 25 runs scored, 26 RBI, and a .985 fielding percentage. He has been named to the H.I.T. All-Tournament team after leading his team to the H.I.T. Tournament title and has been nominated for All-State. During the summer he plays for the Diamond Devils and head coach John Rhodes.

“Robinson is a scrappy, protypical #1, #2 or #9 hitter for our lineup,” said Kovash. “He runs well. He plays hard and reminds me alot of former Blue Hose standout, Brad Bolemon. He plays an outstanding centerfield, and brings the type of stick and style of play we need at PC!”

Dollar and Robinson join Clayton Belton of Ridgeway, S.C., Casey Carlton of Lexington, S.C., Chris Cornelison of Roswell, Ga., Eric Tatum of Buford, Ga., Jim Wagers of Blackstock, S.C., Tyson Baxter of Homer, Ga, and Rob McEwen of Batesburg, S.C. who  already signed as members of the Blue Hose signing class of 2004.
