  BLUE HOSE AND OWLS SPILT GAMES OF TODAY’S DOUBLEHEADER
#4 Kennesaw wins Game #1 13-11 while PC wins 4-3
 in the second game

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College and #4-ranked Kennesaw State University split games in today’s doubleheader held at the PC Baseball Complex Sunday afternoon. The Owls won the first game 13-11 while the Blue Hose came back to win 4-3 in the second game. Today was the opener for the Owls (1-1) and the home opener for the Blue Hose (1-3).

GAME #1 — #4 KENNESAW STATE 13, PRESBYTERIAN 11

Kennesaw State’s junior outfielder Clint Watters’ (Rome, Ga.) two-run double in the top of the ninth broke a 11-11 tie and led the #4-ranked Owls to a 13-11 victory over Presbyterian College. The first game of the doubleheader saw the team combine for 24 runs, 27 hits, and 10 errors.

The Owls led 6-2 entering the fourth inning after scoring a pair of runs in their first three at-bats before the Blue Hose began their comeback. PC scored three runs in the bottom of the inning highlighted by Owl error which scored two runs and a RBI-single by senior outfielder Philip Hauserman (Decatur, Ga.) to cut the lead to 6-5. Junior catcher Jonathan Wyman’s (Duluth, Ga.) in the fifth inning tied the game at 6-6. KSU went ahead 8-6 in the seventh on a two-run homer from junior first baseman Scott Conway (Mt. Laurel, NJ) and added three more runs in the top of the eighth on a pair of RBI singles from Conway and sophomore outfielder Jon Love (Lexington, KY). PC responded with a five-run eighth inning highlighted by an RBI-singles from Hauserman and redshirt junior outfielder Lance Howard (Simpsonville, S.C.) and a two-RBI single from redshirt junior Matt Bodie (Aiken, S.C.) to tie the game at 11-11.

Brett Campbell (1-0) picked up the win for the Owls after going two innings allowing two runs on four hits while PC’s senior Charles Assey (W. Columbia, S.C.) took the loss after going one inning allowing two runs on one hit. Conway led KSU at the plate by going two-for-four with four RBI and a homerun while PC was led by Hauserman who went two-for-three with  two RBI and junior second baseman Donald Sheppard (Sylvania, Ga.) who went four-for-six at the plate with a pair of RBI.

GAME #2   PRESBYTERIAN 4, #4 KENNESAW STATE 3

PC’s sophomore Ryan Ariail (Elgin, S.C.) pitched five solid innings and senior Kevin White (Spartanburg, S.C.) came in to pick up his first save of the season as the Blue Hose won the second game over KSU 4-3 in seven innings.

Ariail went five innings allowing the Owls three runs on two hits with four strikeouts. He allowed three runs in the first, but settled down the rest of the way to silence the KSU offense. White pitched two innings, allowing one hit in relief action.

PC trailed 3-0 entering the second, but scored one run on a RBI-double from freshman catcher Robert Rodebaugh (Marietta, Ga.) to cut KSU’s lead to 3-1. PC added three runs in the third to take the lead for good at 4-3. After loading the bases, PC scored the three runs starting with White being hit-by-pitch followed by Howard advancing on a walk and Bodie reached on a fielder’s choice to score White from third.
