Tuesday, March 21, 2006 BLUE HOSE FALL TO NO. 6 WEST VIRGINIA STATE, 4-2 CLINTON, S.C.- Kyle Jones hit a three-run homerun early in the first inning to lead the visiting West Virginia State Yellow Jackets to a 4-2 non-conference win over the Presbyterian Blue Hose Tuesday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex. With the win WVSU improves to 15-2 for the season, PC falls to 10-24 with the loss. Along with Jones, Tyler Court posted three hits and one RBI to help lead the Yellow Jackets to victory. PC was led at the plate by freshman Cory Lyda (Simpsonville, S.C.), whose sixth inning fly-foul catch, as he was crashing in to the fence, was the highlight of the game, with three hits and one RBI. The Yellow Jackets out hit the Blue Hose 12-6. The Blue Hose looked as though they were going to take the lead in the eight, with the bases loaded and sophomore Casey Carlson (Lexington, S.C.) at the plate. But the Blue Hose fell short, as Carlson grounded out to second base. Brett McClain picked up his second win and Michael Ziewicki his second save on the hill for the Yellow Jackets . Freshman Parker Suit (Macon, Ga.) got the loss for PC. PC gets a second shot at WVSU tomorrow as they meet up at 3:00, again at the PC Baseball Complex. |
