Wednesday, March 29, 2006 PC FALLS TO NO. 1 GEORGIA COLLEGE & STATECLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College Blue Hose gave up seven runs in the third inning to get the ball rolling on their 11-3 loss to the visiting No. 1 Bobcats of Georgia College & State University, in Baseball action Wednesday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex. With the Win No. 1 Georgia College & State improves their record to 28-5. PC falls to 11-29 with the loss. The game was held scoreless until PC walked six batters in the Bobcats seven run third inning. The first four batters of the inning were walked. Then, Mike DeVeaux flied out to left field, scoring Brandon Anderson, and improving the Bobcats lead to two runs. Giuseppe Rivas then singled bringing in Casey Cullen and Rich Janofsky. Wes Sorrells then tripled to center field scoring Rivas; he then scored on a wild pitch to finish the inning at 7-0. The Bobcats then picked up another run in the fifth before PC was able to finally get on the board the bottom of that inning. Sophomore Russell Robinson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) doubled to lead off the inning. Senior Matt Bodie (Aiken, S.C.) then tripled to bring in Robinson. Bodie then scored when fellow senior Evan Sowell (Chesterfield, S.C.) grounded out. No. 1 GCSU then went on to pick up four more runs in the fifth, sixth and ninth innings. PC’s only other run came in the sixth inning when junior Kemper Booth (Hendersonville, N.C.) scored on a grounder hit by Bodie. PC was led by Booth at the plate with two hits and Bodie with two RBI. DeVeaux led the Bobcats effort with three hits and two RBI. Nineteen players saw action for the Bobcats in today’s game. PC starter Ross Ellis (Kings Mountain, S.C.) threw four innings to pick up the loss on the day. Seth Newsome led four GCSU pitchers to the win, throwing four and two-thirds innings as the starter. PC travels to Limestone College to continue action tomorrow. The first pitch is set for 2:30 p.m. |
