BLUE HOSE PICK UP WIN AGAINST LIMESTONE

CLINTON, S.C.- Senior Matt Bodie (Aiken, S.C.) and sophomore Russell Robinson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) posted three hits apiece, including a two run shot sent over the fence by Bodie, to lead the Blue Hose baseball team to an 11-10 win over host Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. Thursday afternoon. PC improves to 12-29 with the win, while Limestone falls to 15-19

PC put up a six run third inning to light-up the scoreboard first. Junior Marcus Carder (Alpharetta, Ga.) posted his first collegiate hit and RBI when he singled to bring Robinson in.  Limestone answered back in the bottom of the inning with three runs of their own, capitalizing on four Blue Hose errors.

The Blue Hose scored another run in the top of the fourth when senior Nick Hoffner (Ellicot City, Md.) brought in freshman Cory Lyda (Simpsonville, S.C.) on a single.

Limestone tied the game at seven-all in the bottom of the inning scoring four runs on five hits.

PC climbed back on top scoring two runs the next inning when junior Kemper Booth (Hendersonville, N.C.) scored Robinson on a two run homer. Bodie then hit his two run homer in the eighth to stretch PC’s lead to four runs.

Limestone scored three runs in their final two innings capped of by a Matt Reel stand alone homer to lead off the ninth inning. Reel led the Limestone effort with three runs and three RBI.

Limestone fell short and was unable to score off relief-pitcher Eric Tatum (Sophomore, Buford, Ga.) to pick up the save and finish off the last two outs of the inning.

The win on the day went to freshman right-hander Parker Suit (Macon, Ga.) who improves his record to 2-4. Starter Michael Hill put in two and a half innings of work to pick up the loss for Limestone.

PC returns to South Atlantic Conference play this weekend when they welcome the Indians of Newberry College for a doubleheader scheduled for noon on Saturday and a single game set for a 1:00 pm start on Sunday.
