BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL PLAYERS RECEIVE ALL-SAC HONORS

CLINTON, S.C.- All-South Atlantic Conference awards were announced Wednesday morning by the league office and five PC baseball and softball players made the All-Conference rosters. 

Freshman Ashley Ford (Marietta, Ga.) was named to the softball first team at the utility position. Ford leads the team in batting average with .367, hits with 54, homeruns with five, and runs batted in with 31, as a true freshman.

Junior Rachel Bailey (Howard, Ohio) received the conference statistical award for doubles per game with 0.39. Bailey was also named to the All-SAC second team for her play at the shortstop position. She is second on the team in batting average with .353 and runs batted in, leads the team in doubles with 18 and runs scored with 35, and is tied for first in hits with Ford.

Sophomore Kellyn Henderson (Simpsonville, S.C.) was picked to the second team All-SAC squad for her play in the outfield.  Henderson is batting .306 with 53 hits, 13 runs batted in, and 34 runs scored.

On the baseball side, two Blue Hose baseball players were named to the All-SAC second team. Senior Matt Bodie (Aiken, S.C.) was named for his play at third base. Bodie is batting .301 for the Blue Hose with 31 runs batted in, 55 hits, and leads the team in homeruns with 5.

Freshman Cory Lyda (Simpsonville, S.C.) was named to the All-SAC second team as an outfielder. Lyda is batting .361 and leads the team in stolen bases with nine, hits with 74, and runs scored with 39 as a true freshman.

The All-SAC selections will receive their awards at the 2006 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournaments this weekend in Greenville, Tenn. for baseball, and Salisbury, N.C. for Softball.
