Friday, April 14, 2006 BLUE HOSE BASEBALL FALLS TO NO. 26 TUSCULUM 10-3 CLINTON, S.C.- Presbyterian Blue Hose baseball gave up a seven-run seventh inning to fall to visiting No. 26 Tusculum College 10-3 in South Atlantic Conference action this afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex. PC falls to 18-36, 7-12 SAC with the loss, as Tusculum improves to 33-12-1, 15-4 SAC. The Blue Hose six great innings leading for most of the game. PC went up by two runs in the first off of senior Matt Bodie’s (Aiken, S.C.) two run rocket hit over the scoreboard. Tusculum scored the next inning when Tim Brown hit an RBI ground out to shortstop scoring Adam Beacham. PC re-gained a two run lead in the fourth when red-shirt freshman Preston Simpson (Lancaster, S.C) got caught in a run-down and senior Nick Hoffner (Ellicot City, Md) stole home. Tusculum then went on a seven run assault in the seventh inning. The Pioneers scored seven runs on six hits capped off by a Kenny Reed two-run homer sent over the left field fence. PC and Tusculum both played well defensively with only one error committed in the game. Tusculum was able to score two more runs in the top of the ninth to close the door on the Blue Hose. Tusculum’s Matt Webb led all batters at the plate with three hits. Kyle Craven (Savannah, Ga.) and Simpson led PC at the plate picking up two hits each. Pioneers starter Brent Gabel picked up his ninth win of the year pitching eight complete innings. PC sophomore Eric Tatum (Buford, Ga.) received the loss on the day. PC celebrated their senior day before the game. Matt Bodie (Aiken, S.C.), Nick Hoffner (Ellicot City, Md.), Evan Sowell (Chesterfield, S.C.), and Robert Cook (Clinton, S.C) were honored for their hard work and dedication to PC Baseball. The Blue Hose and the Pioneers return to action tomorrow when they finish up their three-game SAC series with at doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. |
