FORMER BLUE HOSE WHITE SIGNS WITH TRAVERSE CITY

TRAVERSE CITY, MICH. Former Presbyterian College baseball standout Kevin White (Spartanburg, S.C.) has signed with the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League announced today.

White is the 2004 Frontier League Simontacchi Award (Rookie of the Year) winner in the Frontier League and was a Frontier League All-Star last season.

White hit .291 in 93 games for the Richmond Roosters last season, smacking 20 homers and driving in 72 runs splitting time between right and center field. He is projected as the team's right fielder this season. In 2004 with Richmond, White hit .322 with 11 homers and 37 RBI in 72 games after joining the Roosters on June 17. Overall he is a career .305 hitter. Another asset that the 6'2" Spartanburg, S.C., resident brings to the table is his arm. After garnering nine outfield assists in 2004, he finished second in the league with 14 last season.

The Traverse City Beach Bums will kick off their inaugural season on May 24, 2006 with a game against the defending Frontier League champions, the Kalamazoo Kings.

White, a native of Spartanburg, S.C. (Spartanburg HS), finished his four-year career at Presbyterian College in 2004 as arguably the most decorated player in Blue Hose history. White was selected the 2004 South Atlantic Conference Co-Player of the Year, 1st Team All-SAC  (outfielder), 2nd Team All-SAC (pitcher), first team ABCA All-Region honors and was named a second team ABCA All-American. For his career, White is the program’s first two-time ABCA All-American (2002 & 2004) selection and three-time ABCA All-Region selection.

He ranks first in Blue Hose program career history in batting average (.384), hits (321), runs scored (212), doubles (60), triples (13), homeruns (47), RBI (216), total bases (548), and slugging percentage (.656).
