Carlson Hits Two Home
Runs In PC's Opening Day Of 2007
ANDERSON, S.C. – Freshman righthander
Brady Peele scattered seven hits in six innings to lead
Anderson University to a 4-2 victory over Presbyterian in
the second game and a doubleheader sweep of PC at a cold and
windy Anderson Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.
In the first game, Anderson’s Chris
Pitts scattered six hits and John Mac White hit a two-run
homer to lead Anderson to a 5-4 victory. Presbyterian’s Eric
Tatum suffered the loss after surrendering five earned runs
in 4.2 innings pitched.
Anderson scored two runs in the first
inning of the second game. Tony Graham singled to start the
inning then Matt Hill tripled to right center scoring
Graham. Hill then scored on an infield single by Blair
Carson.
A home run by Presbyterian’s Casey
Carlson in the third inning, his second of the afternoon,
cut the Anderson lead to 2-1.
The Trojans pushed across two more in
the fifth with Hill scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI
double by Kyle Lewis.
A two-run single by Carlson highlighted
Presbyterian’s three-run fourth in the first game to give
the Blue Hose a 4-2 lead. Carlson also hit a solo home run
in the top of the first.
Anderson bounced back with a three-run
fifth to take the lead. After a leadoff single by Graham and
two pop outs, White homered to right center to tie the game
at 4.
Carson followed White with a double to
left center, and Carson moved to third on a throwing error.
Carson then scored what proved to be the winning run on an
infield single by Jessie Whiteside.
Carlson finished the game with two hits
and three runs batted in to lead the Blue Hose offensively.
The final game of the series will begin
at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the PC baseball complex.
