Carlson Hits Two Home Runs In PC's Opening Day Of 2007

ANDERSON, S.C. – Freshman righthander Brady Peele scattered seven hits in six innings to lead Anderson University to a 4-2 victory over Presbyterian in the second game and a doubleheader sweep of PC at a cold and windy Anderson Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.

In the first game, Anderson’s Chris Pitts scattered six hits and John Mac White hit a two-run homer to lead Anderson to a 5-4 victory. Presbyterian’s Eric Tatum suffered the loss after surrendering five earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched.

Anderson scored two runs in the first inning of the second game. Tony Graham singled to start the inning then Matt Hill tripled to right center scoring Graham. Hill then scored on an infield single by Blair Carson.

A home run by Presbyterian’s Casey Carlson in the third inning, his second of the afternoon, cut the Anderson lead to 2-1.

The Trojans pushed across two more in the fifth with Hill scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI double by Kyle Lewis.

A two-run single by Carlson highlighted Presbyterian’s three-run fourth in the first game to give the Blue Hose a 4-2 lead. Carlson also hit a solo home run in the top of the first.

Anderson bounced back with a three-run fifth to take the lead. After a leadoff single by Graham and two pop outs, White homered to right center to tie the game at 4.

Carson followed White with a double to left center, and Carson moved to third on a throwing error. Carson then scored what proved to be the winning run on an infield single by Jessie Whiteside.

Carlson finished the game with two hits and three runs batted in to lead the Blue Hose offensively.

The final game of the series will begin at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the PC baseball complex.
