Assey Hired As
Assistant Baseball Coach At PC
CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College
head baseball coach Elton Pollock announced the hiring of
Charles Assey as an assistant coach on Tuesday. Assey comes
to PC after a successful stint at St. Edward’s University in
Austin, Texas where he served as a graduate assistant
baseball coach and as the head strength and conditioning
coach.
Assey is also a former Blue Hose
baseball player and team captain who graduated from PC in
2004 with a Bachelors of Science in Social Studies with a
minor in Secondary Education. He completed his Masters
Degree at St. Edward’s in May of 2006, graduating with an
Arts of Human Services degree with a concentration in Sports
Management.
"I am excited about Charles joining our
coaching staff,” said Pollock. “He will work with our
outfielders, catchers and hitters. As a former pitcher and
team captain he will also be a valuable asset for our
pitching staff."
During his time at St. Edward’s, Assey
served as the first base coach and as the assistant
recruiting coordinator. He also served as the camp director
for former St. Edward’s head baseball coach Jeremy Farber’s
baseball camps.
Assey is a veteran in the summer
baseball camp circuit as he also been an instructor at
summer baseball camps at The Citadel, Clemson, Lander and
the University of Texas.
During his time with the Blue Hose,
Assey, a righthanded pitcher, recorded 30 strikeouts and
finished his career with two saves in 48.1 innings on the
hill for PC.
The West Columbia, S.C. native played
high school baseball for his father Charlie Assey at
Brookland-Cayce. |
