Craven Drives In
Winning Run In PC Victory Over Brevard
CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian’s Steven
Henry picked up his second win from the hill this season and
the Blue Hose defeated Brevard 5-4 on Sunday afternoon at
the PC Baseball Complex.
Henry (Hoschton, Ga.) pitched the final
three innings of the game to earn the win, allowing only one
Tornado hit in the final three stanzas. He replaced starter
Daniel Hill (Matthews, N.C.).
Hill hurled 6.0 innings and fanned
eight batters.
The game was tied 4-4 entering the
bottom of the seventh inning, but Presbyterian went ahead
off the bat of Kyle Craven (Savannah, Ga.).
Craven had the RBI on the game-winning
run when he doubled to right center field off Brevard
reliever Talon Rawls to bring Cory Lyda (Simpsonville, S.C.)
home from second base and give the Blue Hose the lead for
good at 5-4.
Lyda had reached base two batters
earlier on an error by Brevard second baseman Brandon Ball.
He was then placed in scoring position one batter before
Craven on a sacrifice bunt by Russell Robinson (Mt.
Pleasant, S.C.).
Presbyterian was down at one point in
the game by four runs after letting the Tornados open the
game to the tune of four runs in the first two innings.
Down 4-0, Presbyterian began its work
offensively in the fifth inning.
Freshman Jesse Harmon (Newberry, S.C.)
got things rolling in the bottom of the fifth inning when he
doubled to left center field.
Two batters later, Zach Wilson
(Mechanicsville, Va.) singled him in for the first run of
the game for the Blue Hose. PC eventually scored two more in
the inning to make it 4-3.
In the bottom of the sixth Presbyterian
tied the contest when Bobby Holmes (Quinton, Va.) crossed
the plate to make it 4-4.
Presbyterian improves to 3-5 with the
victory, while Brevard falls to 3-3 on the 2007 season.
The Blue Hose next welcome USC Upstate
to the PC Baseball Complex at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
