PC’s Robinson Tallies
Three Hits In Loss To No. 8 GC&SU
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 8 Georgia
College & State University baseball team (35-9) hit
double-digit runs for the third-straight contest, pounding
out 17 hits in a 16-5 win over Presbyterian College (16-33)
on Tuesday afternoon at Kurtz Field.
Six Bobcat batters had multi-hit
contests, including 3-for-5 efforts from both Brandon
Anderson (Wayland, Mass./Wayland/Gloucester County Coll.)
and Chandler Snell (Loganville, Ga./South Gwinnett).
Snell also tagged his first career home
run in the eighth, a line-drive shot that cleared the fence
in left.
Russell Robinson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.)
led PC at the dish, going 3-for-4 from the plate with an RBI
and a run scored. He was one of two PC batters with multiple
hits as Cory Lyda (Simpsonville, S.C.) was 2-for-3 from the
plate on the day.
The Bobcats bookended the game, scoring
five runs in the first two frames and 11 more in their final
two at-bats.
Down 5-0 in the fifth, the Blue Hose
mounted a rally as Robinson singled and later scored on a
groundout.
Presbyterian brought the game to a 5-4
score in the sixth when designated hitter Casey Carlson
(Lexington, S.C.) ripped a two-run blast to center and
Robinson added an RBI double later in the inning.
With the tying run on second, senior
reliever Matt Howard (Buford, Ga./North Gwinnett/Lincoln
Memorial Univ.) obtained a pop-out to get out of the jam.
Howard (6-0) also shut the Blue Hose
down over the next two innings to pick up the win, allowing
just three hits over 2 2/3 innings.
PC’s Eric Tatum dropped to 3-4 with the
loss, giving up eight earned runs in six innings.
The Blue Hose next travel to Charlotte,
N.C. at 6 p.m. on Wednesday to face off against the 49ers.
