Former PC Standout Named Northern League Player-of-the-Week

CHICAGO – Former Presbyterian standout outfielder Kevin White of the Gary SouthShore RailCats has been selected as the Northern League Rawlings Player of the Week for Aug. 7-13, the Northern League office announced Tuesday.

Northern League Vice-President of Operations Garrett Gosselink made the announcement.

In five games last week for the RailCats, White, a .305 career hitter entering this season, batted .524 (11-for-21) with four doubles. White also knocked in six runs and plated another six runs.

A two-time NCAA Division II All-American, the Spartanburg, S.C. native batted 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles to lead the RailCats to an 8-2 victory over the Calgary Vipers on Aug. 7. White had two hits and scored two runs the next day as the RailCats defeated the Vipers 8-3.

White, who owns nine career PC baseball offensive records, recorded three hits and drove in four runs as the RailCats completed a three-game sweep of Calgary with a 14-7 win on Aug. 9.

White, in his third season of professional baseball, was obtained by the RailCats in a trade with Traverse City of the Frontier League on June 23.
