Craven Tallies Three
Hits In Loss Sunday To LMU
HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial
University baseball team captured its second South Atlantic
Conference series on Sunday afternoon by defeating the Blue
Hose of Presbyterian College 20-6 to remain tied for second
place in the South Atlantic Conference race.
The Blue Hose earned victory in the
first game of the three-game set, winning 10-9. Lincoln
Memorial was victorious in game two, 7-2.
Zack Wilson picked up two hits and two
RBIs in the game one win, while Daniel Hill hurled 5.2
strong innings to record the victory.
Presbyterian’s Kyle Craven led the Blue
Hose attack at the plate in game three by going 3-for-5 on
the afternoon with one RBI.
Teammate Eric Tatum got credit for the
loss. Tatum fell to 2-2 on the year, lasting only 1.1
innings and allowing five hits, seven runs and five earned
runs with two walks.
While it was Presbyterian College that
got on the scoreboard first in the top of the first with a
2-0 lead, the Railsplitters came roaring back in the bottom
of the inning to take a 5-2 advantage and continued for the
remainder of the game.
LMU tallied 22 hits on the afternoon en
route to the Railsplitters' eleventh win overall and their
fourth South Atlantic Conference victory this season. While
there were many solid performances at the plate, junior
shortstop Tommy Casto (Deerfield Beach, FL) had the most
impressive day, going 4-for-6 at the with one RBI.
Sunday’s victory went to Casey Sedley
(Miami, FL) who improves to 2-1 on the year. Sedley tossed
the first six innings, allowing only seven Blue Hose hits,
three runs and two earned runs while walking three batters
and striking out two.
Presbyterian falls to 9-11 overall and
2-4 in the South Atlantic Conference while the Railsplitters
move to 11-4 on the year and 4-1 in league play to remain
tied for second place.
Presbyterian next travels to USC Aiken on Tuesday for a 6
p.m. game.
