PC’s Holmes Collects
Four Hits In Loss To L-R On Sunday
CLINTON, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne
used six Blue Hose errors to claim a 10-6 victory in the
final game of a three-game series on Sunday afternoon. PC
(6-7) dropped two-out-of-three games to give the Bears their
first conference series of the year.
Lenoir-Rhyne improved to 9-3 on the
year and moved to 2-1 in conference play.
The Blue Hose struck first in the
contest when Kyle Craven (Savannah, Ga.) put PC on the board
in the first with a two RBI single to right field.
With a tie game in the fifth inning PC
would take their final lead of the game on a RBI single by
Cory Lyda (Simpsonville, SC) that would drive in Bobby
Holmes (Quinton, Va.). Robert Anders (Greenville, S.C.)
would try to score on the play from second but was called
out at the plate.
In the seventh Mitchell Odom (Oconee,
Ga.) retired the first two batters quickly before things
started to fall apart for the Blue Hose. The Bears pushed
five across the dish in the inning on five hits and one
costly error.
J.D. Harrison tripled to center field
to drive in the inning’s only earned run. A two out error
by Bobby Holmes allowed the inning to continue.
L-R’s shortstop Taylor MacCurdy drove
in two of his three RBI’s in the fifth and finished the day
with two hits and two runs scored.
PC outhit the Bears 15-12 in the
contest but left 14 on base. Five different Blue Hose
finished with multiple hits including Holmes who was only
retired once on the day, going 4-for-5 on the afternoon at
the plate.
Cory Lyda and Casey Carlson (Lexington,
S.C.) each registered three hits and a RBI in the loss.
Mitchell Odom suffered his second loss
of the season despite surrendering only two earned runs in
6.2 innings pitched. Odom fanned five in the game.
L-R’s Adam Hart claimed his first win
of the season, allowing only one run in over three innings
of work.
PC will be back in action at home on
Tuesday as they play a non-conference game against Lander.
First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
