PC Falls To Limestone
CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian’s Casey
Carlson had two hits, but Limestone’s Adam McSwain had three
hits and two RBIs to lead the Saints to a 5-1 victory over
Presbyterian on Wednesday afternoon at the PC Baseball
Complex.
Overall, McSwain went 3-for-4 on the
day. He started the game by securing the first run of the
day for the Saints when he singled in Matt Craig, who had
walked earlier.
McSwain, Limestone’s designated hitter
in the contest, then gave the Saints their final run in the
top of fourth inning when he singed in Joey Asis.
Limestone (3-1) scored the first two
runs of the game in the top of the first inning, but
Presbyterian pulled to within one at 2-1.
Carlson (Lexington, S.C.), who was on
third base, scored the run after Russell Robinson (Mt.
Pleasant, S.C.) stole second base. Limestone catcher Tyler
Midgett tried to nail down Robinson at second base, but his
throw was off the mark, leaving Carlson in a good position
to score the first and only run of the game for the Blue
Hose.
Limestone would score three more over
the next three innings. Neither team could muster more as
the final five innings of the contest saw neither cross the
dish.
Ryan Maxa (1-0) hurled 7.0 innings of
four-hit baseball to pick up his first win of the year for
Limestone. Jim Wagers (0-1) suffered the loss in his first
start of the season for Presbyterian.
Presbyterian (2-3) has two days off
before welcoming Brevard College to the PC Baseball Complex
this weekend for a three-game series. The two teams will
take part in a twinbill beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday,
Feb. 10.
The final game of the series will take
place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11.
