PC’S HUMPHRIES CONTINUES TO RECEIVE PRESEASON AWARDS AS HE IS NAMED TO THE DIVISION II BULLETIN
PRESEASON HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN TEAM
Humphries is the Bulletin’s pick for SAC Player of the Year  

CLINTON, SC — Presbyterian College’s senior center D.J. Humphries has been named to the Division II Bulletin preseason honorable mention All-American squad announced today.  

Humphries, a 6-6, 200-pound center from Union, SC led the Blue Hose men’s basketball team in rebounding (6.5), field goal percentage (56.0%) and finished second in scoring (12.7) last season. Humphries finished fifth in the South Atlantic Conference in rebounds while ranking in eighth in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage, and fifth in defensive rebounds (4.52). For his efforts, he was named to the second team All-SAC squad. Last season he led the team in rebounding on 14 occasions while posting five double-double games (pts-rebs).

Humphries is one of two players on the preseason All-American team from the South Atlantic Conference with Lenoir-Rhyne’s Daniel Willis also being selected. Several players from within the region including Armstrong Atlantic’s Robert Campbell, Augusta State’s Festus Hawkins, J.C. Smith’s Lemans Shingler, and Livingstone’s Rodney Gidney were named to the team.

In addition, Humphries was the Division II Bulletin’s preseason pick for South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year honors. The selection is the second preseason All-American honor for the Blue Hose center/forward this preseason.

The Blue Hose return four starters and nine letterwinners from last season’s 12-15 squad which finished third in the SAC regular season race with a 10-6 mark.

Currently Humphries is a member of the Blue Hose football team where he plays wide receiver. Humphries has 13 catches 207 yards, good for fourth on the team. He also has a string of three consecutive games with a touchdown catch and will hope to add to his total this weekend in Wise, VA as the Blue Hose take on UVA-Wise at 1:30 pm. PC is currently 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the South Atlantic Conference on the gridiron and ranked #8 in the South Region poll this week.
