PRESEASON HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN TEAM

CLINTON, SC — Presbyterian College’s senior center D.J. Humphries has been named to the Street & Smith’s College Basketball Magazine preseason honorable mention All-American squad released today.

Humphries, a 6-6, 200-pound center from Union, SC led the Blue Hose men’s basketball team in rebounding (6.5), field goal percentage (56.0%) and finished second in scoring (12.7) last season. Humphries finished fifth in the South Atlantic Conference in rebounds while ranking in eighth in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage, and fifth in defensive rebounds (4.52). For his efforts, he was named to the second team All-SAC squad. Last season he led the team in rebounding on 14 occasions while posting five double-double games (pts-rebs).

Humphries was the only member of the preseason All-American team from the South Atlantic Conference but was joined by several players from within the region including Armstrong Atlantic’s Robert Campbell, Columbus State’s Travis Crutcher, and Livingstone’s Rodney Gidney. Humphries becomes the first player at Presbyterian to be named to the magazine’s preseason All-American squad.

The Blue Hose return four starters and nine letterwinners from last season’s 12-15 squad which finished third in the SAC regular season race with a 10-6 mark.

Currently Humphries is a member of the Blue Hose football team where he plays wide receiver. Humphries has nine catches 139 yards, good for third on the team. PC is 2-2 on the season and play #2 Carson-Newman College this Saturday in Bailey Memorial Stadium at 3:00 pm for PC’s Homecoming.
