BLUE HOSE CRUISE PAST TIGERS 80-65
PC's Humphries paces four Blue Hose in double figures
 with 18 points

CLINTON, SC - Presbyterian senior forward D.J. Humphries (Union, SC) paced for Blue Hose in double figures with a game-high 18 points as PC defeated Benedict College 80-65 Saturday night in basketball action.

The Blue Hose took a 38-28 advantage into halftime thanks in part to shooting 54.5% from the field and holding a 18-12 rebound advantage in the first half. PC made 12-of-16 from the free throw line in the first half while limiting the Tigers to only 2-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

The second half saw Presbyterian push the lead to as many as 24 points on two occasions, the last coming at the 7:35 mark (71-47). PC continued the hot hand by shooting 60.7% from the field second half and controlled the boards 37-26 for the game.

Joining Humphries for scoring honors for PC was sophomore forward Jeff Whittle (Strasburg, VA) who scored a season-high 14 points and added six rebounds and four assists. Senior guard Kevin Campbell (Piedmont, SC) added 13 points on three-of-five shooting from beyond the arc while sophomore center Rod Isom (Anderson, SC) rounded out the double figure scorers with 10 points.

Benedict was led by freshman guard Quinton McCombs (Greenville, SC) who scored a team-high 14 points with three rebounds while freshman guard Pete Asmond (Columbia, SC) added 13 points.

PC improves to 7-4 on the season and returns to action on Saturday, January 6 when they host Tusculum College to open the 2000-01 South Atlantic Conference regular season. Benedict falls to 1-7 and returns to action on January 5-6 as they participate in the Winston-Salem State University Tournament.
