BLUE HOSE RUN PAST PIONEERS 63-43 IN SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE ACTION CLINTON, SC - Presbyterian sophomore guard Chuck Rayford (Greenville, SC) scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Blue Hose to a 63-43 win over Tusculum College in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action. The opening half saw the lead change hands on four occasions as the Pioneers took a 14-9 lead with 11:10 remaining. PC fought back and went on a 19-5 run to end the first half and take a 28-19 lead into intermission. The second half saw PC continue to hold the lead as Tusculum was able to cut the deficit to only to 40-34 with 10:16 remaining. The Blue Hose kept the Pioneers at bay by shooting 50.0% from the field in the second half and forcing Tusculum into 23 turnovers for the game. The lead increased to as many as 20 (63-43) to end the game. Joining Rayford for scoring honors was senior forward D.J. Humphries (Union, SC) added 13 points and six rebounds. Sophomore center Rod Isom (Anderson, SC) led the team with eight rebounds. Tusculum were led by sophomore guard Pat Compton (Fairfield, OH) who tallied 12 points and six rebounds. Presbyterian improves to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the South Atlantic Conference while Tusculum falls to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the SAC. |
