DOWN BLUE HOSE 90-85
IN EXHIBITION BASKETBALL ACTION
Former Blue Hose All-American Bret Jones goes for 37
points
CLINTON,
SC Former Presbyterian College All-American Bret
Jones scored a game-high 37 points to lead the
Columbia Sharkheads to a 90-85 win over Presbyterian
College in exhibition basketball action Friday night.
The Sharkheads took a 41-35
lead into intermission thanks in part to Jones and
former Blue Hose player Jason
Cochcroft combining for 23 first half points. The
Sharkheads shot 41.7% from the field in the first frame
including eight-of-14 from three-point range.
The second half saw PC
outscore the Sharkheads 50-49 as sophomore guard Chuck
Rayford (Greenville, SC) scored 15 of his
team-high 20 points after halftime. Both teams picked up
their shooting in the second half, as each shot 55.6%
from the field. PC out rebounded the Sharkheads on the
night 40-36 including sophomore center Preston
Davis (Charlotte, NC) who came off the bench to
pull down four rebounds.
Joining Rayford for
PC scoring honors was sophomore center Rod
Isom (Anderson, SC) who tallied 17 points and
seven rebounds. Sophomore forward Curtis Stamps (Marion,
SC) added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds.
For the Sharkheads, former
PC standout Brian
Franklin scored 11 points, while Cochcroft finished
with 15 points and former Marshall University standout Barry
Kincaid added 16 points on four-of-nine shooting
from three-point land.
PC will open the 2000-01
season next Saturday night, November 18 as they host
Allen University at 7:00 pm in Templeton Arena.
