BLUE
HOSE MEN’S BASKETBALL ON THE ROAD FOR THE
2001-02 FOOD LION/SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
1ST ROUND GAME TOMORROW
CLINTON,
SC — Presbyterian College men’s basketball team will
travel to Salisbury, NC to participate in a first round
game of the 2001-02 Food Lion/South Atlantic Conference
Tournament tomorrow announced today.
The Blue Hose (11-15, 4-10
in SAC) are the #6 seed in this week’s tournament and
will play the #3 seeded Indians of Catawba College
(19-7, 9-5 SAC) at 8:00 pm at Goodman Gymnasium.
The winner of the game will
play the winner of the #2 seed Wingate University/#7
seed Mars Hill College game in the semifinals on Friday,
March 1 at 6:00 pm in Hickory, NC at the Catawba Valley
Community Center. The championship game is set for 2:00
pm at the Catawba Valley Community Center on Saturday,
March 2, 2002.
Presbyterian College and
Catawba College played twice during the regular season
with the Indians winning both contests. Catawba won
71-64 at home on January 23 and won in Clinton, SC 73-68
on February 20.
The Blue Hose have won one
Food Lion/SAC Tournament title, in 1996, but have played
in the championship game five times. Last season, the
Blue Hose advanced to the championship game before
losing 76-61 to Catawba College.
