PRESBYTERIAN SHOOTS PAST ALLEN 81-66
Blue Hose’s Dellinger scores career-high 19 points in victory

CLINTON, SC — Presbyterian College sophomore guard Andrew Dellinger (Mauertown, VA) scored a career-high 19 points on five-of-seven shooting from three-point range to lead the Blue Hose to a 81-66 victory over Allen University Monday night.

The Blue Hose opened up a seven-point lead at intermission after a close first half with five leads changes. The game was tied 27-27 with 3:51 remaining before PC went on a 12-7 run to take a 39-32 lead into halftime.

The first half saw the Yellow Jackets stay close by hitting four-of-12 three-pointers led by sophomore guard Brian Branham (Winnsboro, SC) who scored 12 points on four-of-seven three pointers. PC was led by a pair of juniors center Rod Isom (Anderson, SC) and forward Jeff Whittle (Strasburg, VA) who each scored 12 points.

The second half saw the momentum go back and forth until Allen went on a 10-5 run to cut the lead to four points (62-58) on a trio of free throws by Branham with 7:12 remaining. The Blue Hose took control at that point and went on a 8-2 run to push the lead to 70-60 with 5:12 left in the game.

PC extended the lead to as many as 18 points (81-63) in the final minutes as the Blue Hose hit four-for-four from the charity stripe in the final minute of the game.

Joining Dellinger for scoring honors was Isom who tied his career-high of 17 points for the second straight game and added 10 rebounds, his second double-double of the season. Whittle finished the game with 17 points on five-of-eight shooting from beyond the arc and seven rebounds. Sophomore point guard Matt Scully (Dunwoody, GA) dished out a career-high seven assists on the night while committing only two turnovers in 21 minutes of action.

Allen was led by Branham’s 25 points on six-of-13 shooting from three-point land while junior guard Anthony Florence (Chicago, IL) came off the bench to score 13 points.

PC  dominated the boards 46-31 including 15 offensive rebounds while hitting 11-of-27 three-pointers as a team.

The Blue Hose improve to 2-0 on the season while Allen falls 2-4.
