Monday, November 26, 2001 Presbyterian Hangs On To Beat AC Men, 70-68 ANDERSON, S.C. Andrew Dellinger scored a career-high 23 points and Presbyterian made eight consecutive free throws in the final 90 seconds to hold off Anderson and beat the Trojans 70-68 in a non-conference game at the Abney Athletic Center Monday night. Dellinger
was 3-of-6 from behind the arc and 6-for-6 from the free throw
line. He made all six of his free throw attempts in the final
1:18. Presbyterian,
5-1 overall, led 35-27 at the half, but AC, 0-2, put together
a 10-2 run in the first five minutes of the second half to tie
the game at 37. But the Trojans were never able to retake the
lead. Two 3-point goals by Robbie Seabrook in a one-minute span sliced the PC lead to 57-52 with 4:08 remaining. A 3-point goal by Andy Pitt cut the Blue Hose lead to 62-60 with 50 seconds remaining, but thats as close as AC could get. After Rayford made one of two free-throw attempts, the Trojans got the ball with three seconds remaining. PC fouled Corey Lundeen at midcourt to keep the Trojans from getting off a 3-point shot. Lundeen made the first free throw and intentionally missed the second, but the Trojans could not get the ball before the horn sounded. For the game, PC shot 41 percent to 39 percent for Anderson. After shooting just 27 percent in the first half, AC shot 52 percent (15-29) in the second half. Rod Isom, who chipped in 10 points for the Blue Hose, was PCs top rebounder with eight. |
