CHAMINADE CRUISES PAST BLUE HOSE 59-49

HONOLULU, HI - Chaminade’s Jaborri Thomas led three players in double figures as the Silverswords defeated the visiting Blue Hose of Presbyterian College 59-49 in non-conference action on December 29.

Chaminade held a slim 28-23 lead entering intermission thanks in part 55.6% shooting from the field. The Silverswords held the Blue Hose to 28.0% shooting from the field and held a 18-10 rebound advantage entering intermission. 

The Blue Hose cut the lead to three points (28-25) in a jumper by junior center Rod Isom (Anderson, SC) at the 19:48, but the Silverswords responded with a 8-0 run to push the lead to double figures at 36-25 with 15:24 remaining. Presbyterian fought back with a 8-0 run of their own to cut the lead to four points (36-32) with 12:47 left in the game, but that would be as close as the Blue Hose would get. Chaminade used a 9-2 run in the next two minutes to push the lead back to double figures and finish off the Blue Hose. 

The Silverswords were led in scoring by Thomas’ game-high 16 points while guard Albert Powell added 15 points and four rebounds. Rounding out the double figure scorers for Chaminade was forward Mike Donegan who added 10 points and eight rebounds. 

Presbyterian was led in scoring by Isom and junior forward Jeff Whittle (Strasburg, VA) who each scored 12 points. 

For the game Chaminade outrebounded Presbyterian 35-22  and shot 53.7% from the field while limiting the Blue Hose to 35.3% shooting.
