BLUE HOSE MEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOST 2002-03 FOOD LION/SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT 1ST ROUND GAME TOMORROW 

CLINTON, SC — Presbyterian College men’s basketball team will host a first round game of the 2002-03 Food Lion/South Atlantic Conference Tournament tomorrow announced today.   

The Blue Hose (23-7, 9-5 in SAC) are the #4 seed in this week’s tournament and will host the #5 seeded Pioneers of Tusculum College (16-11, 7-7 SAC) at 7:00 pm at the Ross E. Templeton P.E. Center.  

Admission to the first round game will be $6 for adults, $3 for students and children under 12, and college students with college ID are $2. The first 100 Presbyterian College students with ID will get in free.  

The winner of tomorrow’s quarterfinal game will face the winner of the #1 seed Carson-Newman College Eagles/#8 seed Newberry College Indians game on Saturday, March 8 at 4:00 pm on the campus of the Catawba Valley Community Center in Hickory, N.C. The championship game will take on Sunday, March 9 at 4:00 pm. The winner of the tournament title will earn an automatic bid to next weekend’s NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional Tournament.  

This season the Blue Hose swept the season series from the Pioneers winning 54-49 on January 11 in Clinton, S.C. and won 52-43 in Greeneville, Tenn. on February 8. This will mark the first time that the Blue Hose and Pioneers have met in the Food Lion/SAC Tournament. 

Presbyterian College owns a 14-11 record in the SAC Tournament dating back to the initial tournament in 1991. In addition, they are 8-4 in first round games including holding a two-game win streak.
