PC’S LIVESAY NAMED HEAD BOYS BASKETBALL COACH AT SUMTER HIGH SCHOOL

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College volunteer assistant men’s basketball coach Nathan Livesay has accepted the head boys basketball coaching position at Sumter High School in Sumter, S.C. announced today.

Livesay, a native of Kingsport, TN, just finished his first season with the Blue Hose men’s basketball program and helped the team compile a 27-9 overall record and advance to the “Sweet 16” of the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

“We are very happy and at the same time sorry to see Nathan leave,” said Blue Hose head coach Gregg Nibert. “He was a tremendous addition to our coaching staff this year and played a key role in the team’s success. We wish him all the best in his new position.”

Prior to working with the Blue Hose, Livesay spent two seasons as assistant basketball coach at A.C. Flora High School in Columbia, S.C. A 1999 graduate of King College, he served as an assistant basketball coach at his alma mater from 1998-2000. His coaching career began in 1996 when he served as an assistant coach at Kingsport Christian School in Kingsport, TN for three seasons.

“I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work at a great school like PC during such a tremendous season,” said Livesay. “Working for a great coach like Gregg Nibert was an invaluable learning experience and I feel that the knowledge and experience I have gained here has left me well prepared for my next challenge.”

Livesay, 25, earned his bachelor of arts degree from King College in English.  He is married to the former Leandra Rutan of Winston-Salem, N.C.
