RAYFORD JOINS ELITE GROUP IN SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE MEN’S BASKETBALL HISTORY

CLINTON, S.C. —Presbyterian College men’s basketball player Chuck Rayford recently moved into a very elite group in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) men’s basketball history.

Rayford, a senior guard from Greenville, S.C., became only the fourth player in SAC history to tally 1,500 points, 300 assists, 300 rebounds, and 100 steals in their career. The list of members in this elite group is very selective with only four players in men’s basketball history to reach these career marks.

Former Blue Hose standout Bret Jones (1990-93) was the first member with the following career totals: 1,583 points, 425 assists, 830 rebounds, and 189 steals. Former Catawba College standout Marvin Moore (1995-99) became the second member with 1,556 points, 522 assists, 519 rebounds, and 260 steals.

Ironically, the two newest members of this elite group are finishing their careers this season. Wingate University’s senior guard Djuan Hankins (1999-present) is the third member and enters the week with 1,647 points, 336 assists, 413 rebounds, and 189 steals.

Rayford is the fourth member of this group with the following career totals entering this week’s action: 1,719 points, 311 assists, 391 rebounds, and 137 steals.

The marquee match-up of Rayford and Hankins will take place for maybe the final time this season on Wednesday, February 12 at 8:00 pm as the Blue Hose (20-4, 6-2 SAC) travel to Wingate, N.C. to take on the Bulldogs of Wingate University (13-8, 6-2 SAC).
