PC’s Chuck Rayford named to the 2002-03 NABC
 Division II All-District Team

OVERLAND PARK, KS — Presbyterian College’s Chuck Rayford has been named to the 2002-03 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II All-District Team announced today.

The NABC recognizes the country’s best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across the country. The 80 student-athletes, from 8 districts, are now eligible for the NABC Division II All-American Team to be announced at the conclusion of the 2002-2003 NCAA men’s basketball season.

Rayford, a 6-1 senior guard from Greenville, S.C., led the Presbyterian College Blue Hose to a 27-9 overall record, fourth place finish in the SAC regular season, a runner-up finish for the 2003 Food Lion/SAC Tournament title, and a runnerup finish at the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional Tournament. He averaged 14.9 ppg, 3.8 apg, 4.4 rpg, 1.3 spg while shooting 46.9% from the field, 34.8% from three-point land, and 80.8% from the free throw line en route to first team All-SAC and second team Daktronics All-Region honors.

In the NCAA Tournament, Rayford averaged 24.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, and 6.0 apg while shooting 50.0% from the field, 35.0% from three-point range, and 77.3% from the free throw line as he was named to the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Region All-Tournament team for his efforts. The Blue Hose fell 67-53 in the region finals to Bowie State University, one game away from the Elite 8.

He finishes his career with 1,905 career points which ranks second all-time in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) history. Rayford moved into a very elite group in SAC history this season. He became only the fourth player in SAC history to tally 1,500 points, 300 assists, 300 rebounds, and 100 steals in their career. He ends his career with 1,905 points, 372 assists, 444 rebounds, and 154 steals.
