BLUE HOSE MEN’S BASKETBALL EARN #4 SEED IN UPCOMING
FOOD LION/SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

CLINTON, S.C. — The Presbyterian College Blue Hose men’s basketball team will be the #4 seed in next week’s Food Lion/South Atlantic Conference Basketball Tournament announced today by league officials.

The Blue Hose (23-7, 9-5 SAC) finished the SAC regular season in fourth place, one game behind a three-way for first place between Carson-Newman College, Wingate University, and Lenoir-Rhyne College. Lenoir-Rhyne will be the third seed based on a January loss to the Blue Hose while Carson-Newman won the coin toss and will be the top seed in the tournament.

Presbyterian College will host the #5 seed Tusculum College Pioneers on Wednesday, March at 7:00 pm. The winner of Wednesday’s quarterfinal game will face the winner of the #1 seed Carson-Newman College Eagles/#8 seed Newberry College Indians game on Saturday, March 8 at 4:00 pm on the campus of the Catawba Valley Community Center in Hickory, N.C.. The championship game will take on Sunday, March 9 at 4:00 pm. The winner of the tournament title will earn an automatic bid to next weekend’s NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional Tournament.

This season the Blue Hose swept the season series from the Pioneers winning 54-49 on January 11 in Clinton, S.C. and won 52-43 in Greeneville, Tenn. on February 8. This will mark the first time that the Blue Hose and Pioneers have met in the Food Lion/SAC Tournament.

Presbyterian College owns a 14-11 record in the SAC Tournament dating back to the initial tournament in 1991. In addition, they are 8-4 in first round games including holding a two-game win streak.

Newberry/Carson-Newman winner vs. Presbyterian/Tusculum winner, 4 pm
Mars Hill/Wingate winner vs. Catawba/Lenoir-Rhyne winner, 8 pm

Finals — Sunday, March 9 (at CVCC, Hickory, NC)
4 pm
