EPPERLY
SIGN WITH BLUE HOSE MEN’S BASKETBALL
CLINTON,
S.C. — Brian Epperly
have signed national letter of intent to play men’s
basketball at Presbyterian College announced today by
head coach Gregg
Nibert.
Epperly,
a 6-6, 245-pound center from Roanoke, Va. played for
Patrick Henry High School and head coach Jack
Esworthy. He averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and
shoot 48.9% from the field as a senior while fighting
through a nagging ankle injury throughout the season.
Epperly did help lead his team to their first district
championship in over a decade with a perfect 8-0 mark.
Individually,
Epperly is a three-sport letterwinner in football,
basketball and a member of his high school’s lacrosse
team which spent the majority of the season ranked in
the top 5 in the state. In the classroom, he is a member
of the National Honors Society, Spanish National Honor
Society and the Beta Club.
“We
are very excited that Brian will be joining us at
Presbyterian College,” said Nibert. “He is a
tremendous student and will add a much needed physical
presence to our inside game.”
Epperly
becomes the fourth signee for the Blue Hose this
academic year. In November, Sean Dixon of Kennesaw, Ga. signed with PC while Grant
Herren of Oviedo, FL, and Ryan
Koppel of Ashburn Va. signed last month.
Presbyterian
College compiled a program-record tying 27 wins against
nine losses this past season including a 9-5 ledger in
the South Atlantic Conference (SAC), good for a fourth
place finish. In addition, the Blue Hose finished
runner-up for the Food Lion/SAC Tournament and received
an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II National
Tournament. In the NCAA Division II South Atlantic
Regional, the Blue Hose defeated #13 Columbus State
University (71-59) and Shaw University (77-58) before
losing to #10 Bowie State University (67-53) in the
region championship game, one win away from the Elite
Eight.
