S.C. — Presbyterian College’s talented freshman, Michael Drum (Rural
Hall, N.C.) scored to a game-high 15 points to lead the Blue
Hose to a hard fought 53-47 win over Armstrong Atlantic State
University Pirates Saturday night. Drum, who connected on
three-of-four three-point field goals, has now led the Blue
Hose in scoring with wins over Lander University Thursday
night and tonight’s victory over the Pirates. The game opened with PC
getting a pair of three-point baskets by senior guard Chuck
Rayford (Greenville, S.C.) and Drum to go ahead 6-0. The Pirates fought
back with a 10-0 run highlighted by three-point play by senior
guard Dave Pisarcik (Brook
Park, OH). Armstrong would increase their lead to as many as
seven points (23-16) with 6:47 remaining before halftime. The
Blue Hose would close out the half on a 9-2 run as the game
enter intermission tied at 25-25. Drum kept the Blue Hose in
the ballgame in the first half by scoring 10 points on
two-of-two shooting from three-point land. Pisarcik led the
Pirates in the first frame with nine points. The game stayed close in
the second half until the Pirates pulled ahead at 40-35 at the
7:32 mark on a pair of free throws by junior forward Daryl
Williams (Clearwater, Fla.). The Blue Hose fought back and
took their first lead of the second half on a layup by senior
center Rod Isom (Anderson,
S.C.) at the 6:03 mark. The Isom basket would be the last made
field goal by the Blue Hose in the game, but PC connected on
12-of-14 free throws in the final five minutes to seal the
win. Joining Drum for scoring
honors was Rayford with 12 points and five rebounds. Rayford
moved into fifth place in South Atlantic Conference history in
career scoring tonight with 1,560 career points, passing
former Catawba College standout Marvin Moore who scored 1,556 career points. For the Pirates, Pisarcik
and Williams each scored 12 points and added four rebounds
