BLUE HOSE AND LIONS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER

MARS HILL, NC - In the men's contest, PC held on for a 64-60 victory despite a 29-point performance from Mars Hill's Ronald Lewis (New Orleans, LA). PC enjoyed a 27-25 halftime lead.

After the first half saw nine lead changes and six ties, PC never trailed the Lions in the second frame. PC extended their lead to 12 points (50-38) with 8:34 left in the contest after Rod Isom (Anderson, SC) hit one of two free throws. Mars Hill then went on a 12-to-2 run over the next four minutes to trim the deficit to a two-point margin (52-50) with 4:08 on the clock after Lewis hit one of his career high seven 3-pointers in the game. That was as close as the Lions could get. Forced to send PC to the free throw line, the Blue Hose hit 10-of-12 foul shots in the remaining 3:31 to seal the win.

Four players scored in double figures to lead PC. Jeff Whittle (Strasburg, VA) and Andrew Dellinger (Mauertown, VA) scored 11 points apiece while Michael Drum (Rural Hall, NC) and Chuck Rayford (Greenville, SC) added 10 each. Rayford added six assists.

The Blue Hose were 24-for-30 from the line. Lewis scored 29 points to lead Mars Hill followed by Dominique Williams with 12 points and eight rebounds. PC scored 22 points in the paint and received 17 points from their bench.

Mars Hill will host Wingate University on Saturday afternoon. The double-header will begin at 2:00 p.m. PC will host Lenoir-Rhyne College on Saturday afternoon.
