BLUE HOSE DEFEAT MARS HILL 68-56 IN SAC MEN’S BASKETBALL ACTION

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College senior center Rod Isom (Anderson, S.C.) tallied 14 points with six rebounds to lead the Blue Hose to a 68-56 win over Mars Hill College in South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action Wednesday night. 

The Blue Hose came out of the gate tonight with a purpose and took and early 11-2 lead at the 14:15 mark. PC pushed the lead to its biggest margin of the first half at 24-13 with 7:47 remaining on a three-pointer by junior guard Andrew Dellinger (Mauertown, Va.). Mars Hill ended the first half on a 9-3 run to cut the lead to 27-22 going into intermission. 

Dellinger led the Blue Hose in the first half with nine points on three-of-six shooting from beyond the arc while the Lions were led by junior guard Ronald Lewis (New Orleans, La.) who tallied eight points.  

In the second half, Presbyterian pushed the lead to double figures on several occasions with the largest lead coming at 50-37 with 9:42 remaining in the game. The Lions used a 12-1 run in the next four minutes to cut the lead to 51-45 on a three-pointer by Lewis. That would be as close as Mars Hill would get down the stretch as Presbyterian went eight-for-eight at the free throw to seal the win. 

Joining Isom for scoring honors was Dellinger tallied a team-high 15 points coming off the bench while senior guard Chuck Rayford (Greenville, S.C.) added 10 points and five assists.  

Mars Hill was led by Lewis who tallied a game-high 20 points while senior forward Dominique Williams (Savannah, Ga.) added 14 points.  

Presbyterian College improves to 21-6 overall, 7-4 in league play while Mars Hill College falls to 12-12 overall and 2-9 in the league.
