HOSE CRUISE PAST CRUSADERS 88-60 TIGERVILLE,
S.C. — Presbyterian College freshman forward Michael
Drum (Rural Hall, N.C.) led five players in double figures with a
team-high 20 points as the Blue Hose rolled past the Crusaders
of North Greenville College 88-60 in men’s basketball action
Monday night. The Blue Hose opened the
game red-hot from the field as they hit 10-of-15 three-point
attempts to take a 39-22 lead at the 8:38 mark of the first
half. Drum led the Blue Hose during the opening run by scoring
18 of his team-high 20 points on five-of-five shooting from
beyond the arc. The lead went to 18 points
on two occasions before halftime with the last coming at 54-36
at the 1:15 mark on a three-pointer by senior guard Chuck
Rayford
(Greenville, S.C.). PC shot 56.7% from the field in the
first half including an amazing 13-of-22 from three-point
range. North Greenville shot even better, hitting on 13-of-21
field goals for 61.9% from the field. Drum led the Blue Hose
with 20 points in the first half while sophomore forward Trevor
Boggs (Piedmont, S.C.) paced the Crusaders with 14 points. In the second half, the
Crusaders made a early run and cut the lead to 65-55 at the
10:41 mark on a free throw by junior guard Rob
Wilton (Spartanburg, S.C.). The Blue Hose responded with a
15-0 run highlighted by five points from Rayford to put the
game out of reach. For the game, the Blue Hose
hit 18-of-38 three-point attempts which set a new single-game
record this season. The previous high was 16 made
three-pointers versus the same Crusaders back on December 21. Joining Drum for scoring
honors was freshman forward Tray
Ballenger (Wellford, S.C.) who tallied 13 points
followed by Rayford and senior center Rod
Isom
(Anderson, S.C.) who each scored 12 points apiece. Junior
guard Andrew
Dellinger (Mauertown, Va.) came off the bench to add
12 points. North Greenville was led by
Boggs’ game-high 21 points and Wilton added 15 points and
five assists. PC improves to 19-4
on the season and are riding a five-game win streak
while North Greenville falls to 1-17. |
