BLUE HOSE HOLD OFF YELLOW JACKETS FOR 82-66 VICTORY
PC’s Collins leads four Blue Hose in double figures with career-high 17 points

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College sophomore center Johann Collins (Raleigh, N.C.) led four Blue Hose in double figures with a career-high 17 points en route to a 82-66 victory over Allen University men’s basketball action Monday night at the Ross E. Templeton Center.

The Blue Hose had to clamp down on defense in the second half after trailing 44-41 at intermission. Allen shot 62.5% from the field in the first half including hitting seven-of-13 three-point field goals with senior forward Theseus Legree (Rochester, NY) scoring 14 points. PC shot 56.3% from the field in the first stanza as Collins poured in 10 points prior to intermission.

In the second half, PC used it’s trademark defense and limited the Yellow Jackets to 17.9% from the field on five-of-28 field goal shooting. In addition, the Blue Hose forced 14 second half turnovers and allowed only one made three-point basket.

PC opened the second half 28-14 run to take a comfortable lead at 71-59 with 6;56 remaining in the game. The Yellow Jackets only scored seven points the rest of the half as the Blue Hose it’s depth coming off the bench to wear down a eight-man roster for Allen.

Joining Collins in the scoring column for PC was sophomore forward Michael Drum (Rural Hall, N.C.) who tallied 14 points and five rebounds while sophomore forward Tray Ballenger (Wellford, S.C.) and redshirt junior guard Rich Adams (Columbia, S.C.) each tallied 10 points apiece. Freshman guard Melvin Smith (Roanoke, Va.) came off the bench to tally a career-high seven assists to go along with six boards.

Allen was led by Legree who tallied a game-high 22 points while senior guard William Lowery (Gastonia, N.C.) added 16 points. Sophomore guard Kenneth McKenzie (Miami, Fla.) rounded out the double figure scorers with 14 points.

Presbyterian improves to 6-3 on the season and have now won four in a row. Allen drops to 1-12 on the season.

The Blue Hose return to action this Saturday, December 13 as they host Lander University at 7:00 pm.
