LEADS BLUE HOSE TO 62-52 WIN OVER ERSKINE
CLINTON,
SC -- Presbyterian College freshman guard Pat
Kiscaden (Oviedo, FL) scored a career-high 19 points
to lead the Blue Hose to a 62-52 victory over Erskine College
in men’s college basketball action Saturday night at the
Ross E. Templeton Center. PC improves to 6-3 on the season
while Erskine falls to 1-3.
In the
first half, PC jumped out to an early 23-9 lead at the 5:23
mark behind six points from junior center Johann
Collins (Raleigh, NC) and Kiscaden. Erskine would
outscore the Blue Hose 11-3 to end the half as the Flying
Fleet trailed 26-20 entering halftime. Kiscaden’s third
three-pointer of the half would come with :05 seconds
remaining to push the lead back to six points.
Kiscaden
led PC in the first half with nine points on three-of-seven
shooting from deep while Erskine was led by three players,
junior forward Matt Odom (Six Mile, SC), sophomore
forward Reed Long (Piedmont, SC), and sophomore forward
Craig Williams (Paris, KY) who each scored five points
apiece.
In the
second half, Erskine cut the lead to a single point on three
occasions in the first seven minutes and finally took their
first lead at 43-42 on a three-pointer by Long at the 10:58
mark. After tying the game twice over the next two minutes, PC
went on a 11-4 run keyed by a pair of three-pointers by
sophomore guard Sean Dixon (Marietta,
GA) and junior forward Tray
Ballenger (Wellford, SC) to push the lead back to
seven points at 5:34 left in the game. The Blue Hose would
then outscore the Flying Fleet 8-5 down the stretch including
four-of-six at the line to seal the victory.
Joining
Kiscaden for scoring honors with the Blue Hose was Dixon who
tallied 12 point and four assists as PC controlled the boards
with a 39-29 advantage. Sophomore forward Grant
Herren (Oviedo, FL) led the way with 10 boards.
Erskine was led by Long’s team-high 18 points on six-of-18
shooting from the field. Odom chipped in eight points while
Williams pulled down seven boards.
