LENOIR-RHYNE PUTS AWAY BLUE HOSE 80-60

Hickory, N.C. –  The Lenoir-Rhyne College Men's Basketball Team celebrated Senior Night with an 80-60 win over Presbyterian College Saturday at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium in a key South Atlantic Conference game.

The Bears, alone in the second place and one game behind Catawba in the league standings, improved to 15-9 on the year and 9-3 in SAC play while the Blue Hose fell to 16-9 and 7-5, respectively.

Senior forward Roman Davis (Greensboro, N.C./South Stokes HS) led all scorers with 21 points and established a school single-game record by making all 11 free throw attempts.  Three other Lenoir-Rhyne players scored in double figures including senior guard Tony Connelly (Charlotte, N.C./West Charlotte HS) with 14.

PC's Sean Dixon (Marietta, Ga.) was the lone Blue Hose to reach double figures, finishing with 16 points.

Trailing 16-14 with 11 and a half minutes to go in the first half, Lenoir-Rhyne put together a 19-0 run over the next five minutes to take a commanding 33-16 lead.  In the middle of the run, Presbyterian was hit with three technical fouls at once, coming at the 7:19 mark, which helped fuel the L-R run.

L-R moved into halftime leading 48-27 and increased the margin to as many as 24 points after intermission.  The Blue Hose tried to rally but could get no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Newberry, S.C., to take Newberry Wednesday at 8 p.m. while Presbyterian faces Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tenn., at 8 p.m. on Wednesday as well.
