Seeds ANNOUNCED for 2005 Food Lion 
SAC Basketball Tournament

#3 seed Blue Hose Men’s team to host Mars Hill on March 2 at 7:00 pm

ROCK HILL, SC. – The Wingate University women and the Catawba College men, who both played in the championship game of last year’s tournament, earned the top seeds for the 2005 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference basketball tournament, league officials announced today.

The Catawba men finished 12-2 in conference play to capture the top seed. The Indians, who won the tournament title last year as the seventh seed, will host eighth seed Newberry College in the tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Lenoir-Rhyne College is the second seed. The Bears finished 9-5 in conference play and will host seventh seed Wingate University at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Presbyterian College and Tusculum College finished tied for third with 8-6 records. The Presbyterian swept Tusculum during the regular season, giving the Blue Hose the third seed. Presbyterian will host sixth seed Mars Hill on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Tusculum, the fourth seed, will host fifth seed Carson-Newman on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The men’s championship game will tip off at 4 p.m. Tickets for the tournament are $6 per day for adults, $3 per day for children and students, and $2 per day for college students with ID. The men’s and women’s winners of the tournament will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
