BLUE HOSE MEN’S BASKETBALL OPENS EXHIBITION SCHEDULE ON FRIDAY

CLINTON, S.C. — The Presbyterian College men’s basketball team will open the 2004-05 season on Friday, November 5 when they host the Columbia Sharkheads at 7:00 pm in the Ross E. Templeton Center.

Ten letterwinners and five players that started at one point last season return for Blue Hose head coach Gregg Nibert, who begins his 16th season at the helm of the PC men’s basketball program. Nibert, the all-time winningest men’s basketball coach in the college’s history and a 1979 graduate of Marietta College, enters the 2004-05 campaign with a 15-year overall record of 264-176.

A year ago, Nibert and the Blue Hose record a 16-12 overall record and finished in fifth place in the South Atlantic Conference regular season with a 7-7 league mark.  This season the Blue Hose are picked to finish fourth in the South Atlantic Conference regular season standings based on the preseason coaches poll.

The Columbia Sharkheads are led by former Blue Hose standouts, All-American Bret Jones and All-Region selection Eric Burrow. Last year on November 8th, the Blue Hose rolled past the Sharkheads 103-78 behind 14 points from forward Rich Adams (Columbia, S.C.) who led five players in double figures.

Season ticket packages are still available for the upcoming 2004-05 season. This season the season package will contain all 27 home games for both the men’s and women’s teams. Season ticket packages are priced at $95.00 each, a savings of $22.00 off the individual ticket price. For more information on Blue Hose basketball tickets, contact Sherry Medlin at 833-8240.
