ALLEN SIGNS WITH BLUE HOSE BASKETBALL

CLINTON, S.C. – Walt Allen has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Presbyterian College 17th-year head coach Gregg Nibert announced today.

Allen, a 6-5, 225 lb forward from London, Kentucky, plays for coach Steve Wright at South Laurel High School. Last season, he averaged 19 points and 9.5 rebounds per game en route to being named MVP of the 2005 Kentucky State Basketball Tournament in which he led his squad to it’s first ever state championship.  Allen, whose in his fifth year as a varsity player, has led South Laurel to two district championships, two regional championships, a state championship and an overall record of 110-29.

In the classroom, Allen carries a 4.0 GPA.

“Walt is an excellent passer and scorer on the block and understands the game really well,” Nibert said. “He is one of the most heralded recruits that we have signed in my 17 years coaching at Presbyterian College, we are expecting him to come in and make an impact.”

Allen becomes the second player to sign with PC in the 2005-06 signing period after Rhett Bonner signed a national letter last week.

The Blue Hose will be back in action tonight as they host Allen University in PC’s home opener. Tip off is scheduled for 7 pm.
